Generally our Live-In Nannies are from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. Some may have already completed a similar programme in another country and now wish to pursue their career in the U.K. These candidates are fluent in English and adapt well to the British lifestyle.
A Nanny is expected to:
- have had formal child care training
- have attended a full-time child care course and be familiar with all aspects of child care
- have sole charge of the children
- babysit 2 evenings a week
Hours of work are by arrangement and duties are mostly child related. She will expect to be responsible for the upkeep of the children's bedrooms and toys, their laundry, preparation of children's meals, playtime, bathtime, after-school activities, play-dates and supervision of homework. Most of our applicants drive and are willing to help with the school runs and rotas.
A Nanny is not expected to undertake general housework for the entire family.
Our experienced Counsellors will be able to help you select the most suitable candidate according to your preferences to help you with your family's specific needs, be it someone sporty, an animal lover, a nature enthusiast or an applicant with artistic or musical skills. Some of our Nannies also have Special Needs training and/or experience working in this field.
Most nannies work for 5 days per week but individual work schedules can be discussed prior to appointment.
Salary from £220 - £300 net per week depending on age, qualification and experience, plus full board and lodging.
According to Working Time Regulations BAPAA recommends that the UK basic holiday allowance of 28 days per annum should apply or 1.66 days per month pro-rata if the placement is shorter than a year. This can include public and bank holidays.
It is the employer's responsibility to ensure that tax and national insurance contributions are paid. We will be pleased to give guidance on this.
