To apply for the Au Pair in America programme, you don't need to have a childcare qualification, you just need to have 200 hours of childcare experience in the last three years, with non family members.  This can be in the form of babysitting, childminding, volunteering in nursery/school etc.  Should you be a fully trained and qualified nanny, you could apply for the Au Pair Extraordinaire programme.

Together with our partners - AU PAIR IN AMERICA - we offer you our personal caring service. In England you will have every assistance in the application procedures and visa arrangements.

In the States you have the back-up of your own personal counsellor who meets with you on a regular basis and helps with every aspect of the stay. You are never alone! There are strict controls over the working week and conditions of employment.

For all our programmes your return flight from the UK to the USA, study allowance and visa are all taken care of.

All applicants attend our 4 day Orientation near New York City at the start of their stay - a great way to make new friends in America from day one. 
At the end of your stay you have the opportunity to travel around the States - a perfect way to end your adventure!

Can I apply?

Yes, if you

•  are aged between 18 and 26 years

•  hold a valid driving licence

•  enjoy caring for children and have at least 200 hours recent, practical childcare experience such as babysitting

•  are a secondary school graduate or equivalent

•  have no criminal record

•  speak English to a good standard

•  can commit to 12 months living with an American family

•  have not previously been an au pair in America
