New Intern
We would like to welcome aboard our new intern for the next six months - Marie-Christin.
Marie joined us in April 2013 and has settled in very well within the first weeks.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and is native German speaker. She also speaks fluent English and advanced Spanish and French, which we feel is going to be really helpful in this line of business, and will help when we need to communicate with some of our au pairs in their native tongue.
We hope Marie enjoys her internship here with us at Childcare International and finds working for us a valuable experience.

We appreciate new introductions. As a “Thank You” we are happy to offer a discount of £30 against each new host family introduced to us by you. Such discount would apply once a placement is booked and confirmed for that family introduction. This benefit will be credited against your next placement.
Please note a family can only be recommended by one person. Please ensure that your friend clearly states your full name at the time of registration with us.
With our “Recommend a Friend” discount you can recommend as many host families as you can and receive a major discount off your next placement!
Please note that there is no cash alternative and this credit cannot be passed on to a friend or relative.
Discounts
For those families who return to us for a second and subsequent placement, we offer each Client a discount of 10% off this follow-on long term placement. (9 – 12months)
Please note that an overall discount of 10% will be made if both a summer and a follow-on (minimum 9 month plus) applicant is confirmed.
Whilst we understand that many families will only consider long-term stays of between 9 – 12 months, we are happy to provide you with a substantial discount if you choose to select candidates who can only stay for a shorter period (3 - 6month). A 25% discount will be given on the second and subsequent 6 month candidate confirmed with us, providing you have paid the 3 – 6 months fee for the first placement.
These discounts are only applicable for NEW confirmations, with effect from 1st February 2011. It cannot be back dated to any previous placements or recommendations. Any outstanding credit will naturally always be honoured.
Videos at the end of your stay
We are looking to produce a short video clip for our own Childcare International website and we would like to have some contributions from our au pairs who are currently in England. Would you be kind enough to send us video clip of yourself briefly describing what a great time you are having or have had (if you are coming to the end of your stay) with the family.
If you are a family and wish to tell us about what a lovely placement you have had, please feel free to make a video showing us about your experience of having an au pair in your home, or you may encourage and help your au pair prepare the video for us.
If you are including your host family’s children in your video or any video of the house, please make sure you ask your host family’s permission to do so.
Please just use first names only when introducing yourselves, and do not mention the host families names or the children’s name. Tell us about how great the children have been, what you have learnt, places you have visited (maybe put that in your video clip as a backdrop, i.e. London eye, etc)
Those whose videos are selected will be rewarded with an Amazon voucher.
The videos should not be longer than minute, and no larger than 20MB. Please do send them on to:
childcareinternational.videos@gmail.com
Please write to us at office@childint.co.uk for more details.
Your video will help encourage other youngsters like yourselves to experience a great year out in England too.
We look forward to receiving your videos, and good luck :)
Tax-Free Childcare Initiatives
The scheme, which is set to come into force in late 2015 after the next general election, will replace the existing childcare vouchers programme, which is offered by fewer than 5% of employers anyway
The Government says the new scheme will save a typical working family with two children under 12 up to £2,400 a year, yet we've worked out while some will benefit, others will lose out.
The new scheme will provide financial assistance to an additional 2 million parents which will provide an invaluable boost to the nanny industry (as the financial support will be available to parents using an Ofsted registered provider which includes those nannies on the vOCR – voluntary Ofsted Childcare Register).
Employing a nanny can be more cost effective for families with two or more children then nursery costs and today’s proposals will further support families in this situation. For example under the new scheme a family with 3 children could save £3,600 per year (£1,200 for each child) where as under the existing Childcare Voucher scheme both parents can collectively save £1800 per year.
In addition employing a nanny or sharing a nanny is becoming a popular choice with working families as they can provide a greater amount of childcare flexibility.
Prime Minister David Cameron says: "Too many families find paying for childcare tough and are often stopped from working the hours they'd like.
"This is a boost direct to the pockets of hard-working families in what will be one of the biggest measures ever introduced to help parents with childcare costs."
IAPA - LONDON - 2014
Sandra Landau welcomed all IAPA delegates at the Rome Conference to visit London in March 2014 which has been selected as next years destination.
Below is her lovely speech as she announced the great news!!!
Friends and Colleagues
Just as Lord Coe welcomed the world to London for the amazing Olympic Games of 2012, I am delighted to stand here and have the honour of inviting you all to the next WETM / IAPA conference of 2014 in London next March.
This timing co-incides with the 10th anniversary of the British Au Pair Agencies Association (known as BAPAA) and we are thrilled to be able to host this important event in our country for the first time.
BAPAA came into being as a result of IAPA's incentives to form National Associations and I am proud to have held the position of Chairperson since that time. Over this period we have been instrumental in helping to frame British government policy with regard to au pairs and the Cultural Exchange Programme as well as establishing an official Code of Conduct for all our British member agencies.
We can't promise that the Queen will repeat her parachute flight with James Bond as she did for the Olympics but we look forward to welcoming you to London in 2014 where you can be assured of the best of British hospitality.
Snow Disruptions
Due to snow, schools were shut in some parts of the country.
Why not book an au pair to prevent any future time off work or inconvenience caused by this.
The au pair arrangement is very much a "give and take" situation. In return for their commitment and respect, you as a family would do everything possible to make their stay an enjoyable one. An au pair should be treated as a friend to the family, and in return she will provide personal and reliable care for the children.
Au pairs take time to settle down with a new environment, thus if you are thinking of getting an au pair for September, please ensure you give her a few weeks to settle in with your children, before you return to work.
Call us today as we have many new applicants on our books.
IAPA conference
Our director Sandra Landau will be going to the annual IAPA conference to be held in Rome over the next few days, and will be meeting up with many future agents and current agents from Europe and all over the world, watch this space for more news....
