We are pleased to be able to offer this exciting new programme which gives young people the opportunity to find out more about the Chinese language, culture and society.

Length of Stay:
3 months minimum stay, with the option to extend for a further 3 months or a further 6 months up to a maximum of 12 months.

Qualifications:
Programme is available for those aged 18 to 29 years who are in good health and physically fit, with no criminal record and exhibiting an openness towards Chinese cultures and learning.

Location:
Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing.

Duty hours:
A maximum of 30 hours per week.

The au pair will receive:

  • free room and board with a host family,
  • round trip air fare
  • 2 days, 8 hours of training at Arrival Orientation and Training Camp.
  • free Mandarin Classes (60 class hours for each 3 month stay)
  • monthly Chinese Cultural Courses.
  • travel insurance • visa extension fees
  • pocket money of at least 1500 RMB (Renminbi) per month
  • a completion bonus for each 6 month stay is 1000rmb
  • for every 3 month extension, the extension bonus is also 1000rmb.
  • plenty of free time when not working plus 1.5 days free per week
  • an additional 3 vacation days every 3 months

Orientation:
Every au pair will attend Orientation prior to joining the Host Family. Typical topics will include general city information, programme guidelines, cultural differences, child safety, child education in China, Au Pair Mandarin vocabulary and much more – even a sightseeing programme!

Au Pair duties:
To assist the family for up to 30 hours a week with childcare, English tuition and some light housework. Typically a Chinese Host Family would expect you to devote the majority of your time interacting with the children, whether it is taking them to and from school, playing games or helping with homework and some English language tutoring.

Cost:
if flying from the UK the applicant must pay a Programme Fee of US$900

Other Costs:
Please note the applicant is responsible for all costs related to the application, such as medical report, police certificate and payment to the Chinese consulate for Chinese entry visa. There are no hidden charges and no room and board to pay throughout the stay. Whilst the pocket money is low, the au pair can receive several bonuses plus the amazing opportunity to study mandarin throughout the stay.

  • a completed application form,
  • signed Au Pair Agreement
  • A "dear family" letter
  • an interview report
  • police check: http://www.acro.police.uk/subject_access.aspx
  • 1 childcare reference
  • a minimum of 1 character reference
  • a copy of your passport
  • A medical check form
  • copy of school certificates (where applicable),
  • copy of any childcare of first aid certificates,
  • a smiling passport-sized photograph, 5 photos from daily life,
  • a self-introductory video (instructions will be provided) Only full and complete applications will be accepted.
