J1 Visas

Dear Au Pairs,

You may have heard that some J1 visa programs are currently under review which might lead to possible changes to the Au Pair program and other cultural exchange programs. The J1 visa gives thousands of young people around the world the opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture and to develop personal and professional skills which will be invaluable for their future careers.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Exchange (ECA) that oversees all J-visa programs has indicated they will continue to implement the J-1 visa programs at the same levels they have for the past few years. We at Au Pair in America will continue to work to protect our program. We will continue to issue visa documents to applicants who place with a family and we'll continue to send requests to ECA for current au pairs who wish to extend their stay for a second year.

Our mission is to bring the world together by providing cultural exchange opportunities to young people who have a passion for childcare. Our goal is to continue to give young people the opportunity to become role models for their host children, to make the world a better place through sharing their culture and to broaden their horizons through experiencing the amazing opportunities the Au Pair program provides.

If you are thinking about becoming an au pair, or are already an au pair with us, we encourage you to continue to help us bring the world together. We have a fantastic support network in place, so we’re here to help you every step of the way!

Thank you for being part of our program and we look forward to welcoming many more au pairs to the United States over years to come.
If you have recently been to America or still there, feel free to share a testimonial to encourage others.
